DAY 2 AT OAK ISLAND BEACH

Why I always wake up before the alarm on vacation is beyond me but I do every year. Awake at 7:30 this morning just waiting to hear someone else stirring around .
After we had breakfast today we headed out to a local tailgate market that is held every Monday morning.

We were sort of disappointed this year as a couple years ago when we were here there were many more vendors and things were less expensive. We did buy some fresh corn and potatoes and a couple jars of homemade jam but that was all our purchases today.
We left there and came back to the house to hit the beach. I had forgotten that today is my 63rd birthday, so happy birthday to me and the kids filled a great need I have with these Ookos shoes. I had tried on a pair daughter had and meant to order me a pair and never got around to it so these are great.
They feel like walking on pieces of foam and have high arch supports built in them so I don't need to put my arch supports in them and they are super for wearing on the beach. And as always I love my card. Thanks so much kids !!!

After a snack lunch we hit the beach, d-in-love didn't feel good so the rest of us headed out.

G-daughter R's first fishing lessons.

It wasn't long until she wanted to join mommy back at the house for a nap.
Daughter took over the fishing pole.
G-son was back in the water quickly and having a blast. I can't believe how big he has gotten in just the past year.

Josh, Daughter and I took a long walk all the way around the end of the island where Fort Caswell is and up to where the Cape fear river comes in. I love the deserted beach up here.

We rested back at our canopy for a while then about 4:00 Hubbie ,me, Josh and daughter decided to go to the other end of the island to eat at one of our favorite places, Blue Water Marina Fish House.

#1 son's family stayed behind with d-in-love not feeling well and g-daughter R not being very restaurant co-operative they thought tonight wouldn't be a good night to go out for them.
I took care of g-daughter I while everyone else got ready to go.
G-son loves his little cousin soooo much.

We arrived at the restaurant about 5:30 and walked right in and sat down which was a first for us at this place as usually there is a long wait. We noticed almost immediately after we sat down there was a line of waiting diners forming outside. We got here just in time. It was very good service and very good food and thanks for my birthday dinner !!

We made it back home in record time and found these two in the little pool.

And #1 son fishing , catching small Mullet that have been running the last couple days.

When the sunset I made some pics of Josh, daughter and g-daughter I on the beach. The sunset wasn't nearly as colorful as last night but the pics turned out good.

We came inside and I made another peach cobbler since last night's went away very quickly.
We all finished this day relaxing.
Talked to #2 son and everything at home is good.
This is the temperature map of July back at the farm showing temps above average for the month.

Thankful for another blessed day of fun with my family.
God Bless and Good Night.

DAY ONE ON OAK ISLAND 2017

Woke to partly cloudy skies but the sun seemed to be winning the battle.

I didn't sleep well at all last night ,maybe because of that very greasy fried okra I ate at 8:30 , maybe because of a painful hip from the ride down here, maybe the feel of a different bed and a smaller sized bed, queen instead of the king we have at home or probably a combination of all of these.
Plus I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm went off this morning and couldn't go back to sleep because my stomach was feeling pretty bad.
Thankfully by the time I got dressed and went into to have breakfast with everyone I felt better.
Daughter had plenty of help with diaper changes this morning.
#1 son loves his new little niece I.

After breakfast we all took a walk down the beach.

G-son was the lucky one today that found an entire Sand Dollar.

We came back inside and had an early lunch before putting up our beach canopy and heading back out for the afternoon of beach fun.
G-daughter I fell right into the beach life.
G-son said he had "the best day" got to play in the ocean with Uncle Josh, Aunt T and Pawpaw.

He learned how to float on his back quickly.

He also likes to still play in the sand .

G-daughter R who napped early in the afternoon came out later and got in her ocean play for the day.
Her favorite part was showering with this hose to rinse all the sand off.
Then she loved playing in her little pool and sprinkler.

Everyone one had a great time.
We came in about 4:00 and after I played a quick game of ping pong with g-son daughter and I took g-daughter I in the stroller and walked to the end of the island.
We had spaghetti for supper tonight and stayed in.
We watched these large birds taking care of their young high up on top of this pole.

This was the highlight of g-daughter R's day to get to hold her baby cousin, just look at that face !!!

Josh, daughter, g-daughter I , hubbie and I walked down the beach and watched a beautiful sunset tonight.

We made peach cobbler for a late night snack tonight and it was delicious !!!
Thankful for a beautiful blessing filled day and looking forward to what God has in store for us tomorrow.
God Bless and Good Night.
